FOURTH GRADE CONFIRMATION/FAITH FORMATION UNIT: Pastor’s Checklist

Home Visit with parents/student as scheduled.

            (Student should have Bible and pencil and be ready to go!)

Bring:

1. Bible (same version as the child has)
2. Folder with 10 blank, lined notebook pages.
3. Schedule of 18 Devotional Readings from Mark, with A,B,C page.
4. Little Visits With God (Family devotional readings book [CPH])
5. List of Congregational Shut-ins.

Visit: (1 hour; scheduled ahead of time)

1. Quick review of Faith Formation/Confirmation process.
2. Quick intro to devotionally reading Bible, using A,B,C method of Devotional reading of Scripture:

A = About:  two things section is about (like book report)

B = Believe: One thing you think God might want you to

believe from this reading 

C = Challenge: One thing you think God might want you to

be or do from this

• Student reads Mark 1:1-20 and, with Pastor and parental input, writes out A,B,C’s of section.
• Introduce Little Visits with God & student to lead family devotions during time doing unit.
• Introduce list of Shut-Ins to select person to deliver quarterly devotions as they become available at the church.

Summary:

• Overall Faith Formation/Confirmation Process
• Book of Mark (18 readings, using A,B,C.)
• Do first selected section with them; student leading; parents engaging
• Little Visits with God Devotional Book. (4^th Grader leads family devotions)
• Congregation’s Shut-In selected for quarterly Devotions delivery.
• Schedule of 18 readings from Mark to be completed by: (select with parental input)
• Pocket Folder with the 10 sheets of lined paper to be turned in at that time to Pastor.     (Here! I’m all done visiting with Uncle Mark!)
